Celebrations of the 36th anniversary of the Rzeszów-Oustrzyce Agreements begin in Rzeszów. The event enjoys the honorary patronage of Sejm Speaker Marek Kuchciński.
The Rzeszów and Ustrzyki Dolne agreements ended the month-and-a-half-long agricultural strikes in Rzeszów and Ustrzyki Dolne.
The agreements signed on the nights of February 18-19 and 20, 1981, were the first to include the demands of rural residents. As a result of the strikes, farmers won guarantees of inviolable peasant property with the right to inherit, equal rights for individual farmers with state and cooperative agriculture, and the abolition of restrictions on agricultural land trading.
After Gdansk, Szczecin and Jastrzebia Zdroj they were the fourth and last social agreements that the communist authorities concluded in 1980-1981.
