On 15 August the Speaker of the Sejm Marek Kuchciński took part in the central celebration of the Polish Army Day. It was also attended, among others, by President Andrzej Duda and the First Lady, Prime Minister Beata Szydło as well as ministers and parliamentarians.
The Marshal of the Sejm was present at the unveiling of the plaque on the column of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier dedicated to "The Excluded Soldiers". - We are fulfilling a duty through which Poland, to a large extent, regains its honor towards its soldiers - said President Andrzej Duda in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. After the ceremony of unveiling the memorial plaque, Marshal Kuchciński took part in the ceremony of the President of the Republic of Poland handing in medals, decorations and general nominations at the Belvedere and saying farewell to generals finishing their professional military service. He also laid a wreath at the Marshal Jozef Pilsudski Monument in Warsaw and watched the military parade at the Ujazdowskie Avenue.
Polish Army Day is celebrated on August 15 to commemorate the victorious Battle of Warsaw in the war of 1920. It was introduced by an Act of the Sejm of July 30, 1992.
