Meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Development of bilateral relations and cooperation in the regional dimension, primarily on the parliamentary level, as well as Poland's support for Bosnian aspirations for integration into the EU and NATO are some of the topics of today's conversation between Speaker of the Sejm Marek Kuchciński and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mladen Bosic.

– Our bilateral relations have been very good since Poland recognized the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1992 - said Marek Kuchciński. The Speaker of the Sejm thanked for the presence of the Bosnian delegation at the celebrations of the 1050th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland in April this year in Poznan. Speaker Kuchcinski received an invitation from Chairman Bosic to pay a visit to the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The politicians agreed on the need to strengthen relations between the two countries, especially in the parliamentary dimension - they have a lot of untapped potential. - We are committed to intensive, direct collaboration. We believe that it can be raised to a higher level - said the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also expressed his appreciation for the Polish growth and economic development and noted that the economy is an area in which Poland and Bosnia and Herzegovina should particularly closely cooperate.

– I would like to assure you of Poland's strong support for Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path towards the European Union and NATO - Marek Kuchciński, Speaker of the Sejm, emphasized. Speaker of the House of Representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mladen Bosic noted the positive climate and commitment of the current authorities of his country to the integration with the EU. - We also need a new impetus to move faster towards the European Union, as well as NATO - he noted.

The Speaker of the Sejm emphasized that apart from the dialogue within the EU framework, comprehensive cooperation of the parliaments of the countries located between the Adriatic and Baltic Seas is extremely important. The speakers found interesting the initiative of a wide parliamentary summit - from the Baltic States to the Balkans and the Caucasus. The politicians agreed that Bosnia and Herzegovina could participate as an observer in the parliamentary work of the "enlarged" Visegrad Group or the countries of the so-called ABC initiative. - Since 1 July, we are taking over the presidency of the V4 and we would be happy to host Bosnia and Herzegovina at parliamentary meetings in this format," said Marshal Kuchciński.

The topic of the conversation was also the upcoming parliamentary meeting of the Central European Initiative in Sarajevo, which is to be devoted to such issues as energy independence and transport corridors, including Via Carpatia.
