The European Union needs to be strengthened, and this strengthening should come from the countries that form it," agreed Sejm Speaker Marek Kuchciński and Spanish Senate President Pío García-Escudero Márquez.
The meeting was a pretext for discussing common political and economic initiatives. Márquez pointed out that for Spanish entrepreneurs Poland is a center where it is worth investing and developing business activities.
The interlocutors also raised the issue of the current and future shape of the European Union, and agreed that we must not depart from the values on which the EU was built. - We cannot forget about the values that created the EU, values that will help us avoid repeating the wars that destroyed Europe. The economy and prosperity are extremely important, but the most important thing is to defend the principles," said Márquez.
For both Poland and Spain, 2018 is a special year. Poland celebrates 100 years of independence, Spain celebrates 40 years of regaining democracy, which is expressed in the adoption of a constitution, and the restoration of a bicameral parliament. The Speaker of the Sejm informed that the Sejm and the Senate will celebrate two important anniversaries: The 100th anniversary of the rebirth of the Polish State, and in July the 550th anniversary of the establishment of the bicameral parliament.
