We bid farewell to Archbishop Ignacy Tokarczuk - the steadfast bishop

The funeral ceremony of Archbishop Ignacy Tokarczuk, the 67th Bishop of Przemyśl and the first Metropolitan of Przemyśl, who ruled the diocese in the years 1965-1993 and was known as the "steadfast bishop" for his activities during the period of the Polish People's Republic, was held in the Przemyśl archcathedral on January 2.

The ceremony gathered about 3.5 thousand believers and representatives of state and local authorities. The only representative of the Sejm Presidium was Marek Kuchciński, Deputy Speaker of the Sejm.

Contrary to media reports, the funeral ceremony was not attended by Senate Speaker Bogdan Borusewicz.

The funeral ceremony was attended by representatives of Law and Justice: Mr Mariusz Błaszczak, chairman of the Law and Justice Parliamentary Club, Mr Joachim Brudziński, chairman of the Law and Justice Executive Committee, Mr Antoni Macierewicz, chairman of the Parliamentary Group for Investigation of the Causes of the TU-154 M crash on 10 April 2010, Stanislaw Pięta, senator Jerzy Chróścikowski, chairman of the Solidarity Trade Union of Individual Farmers, parliamentarians from the Law and Justice Party of Podkarpacie: Piotr Babinetz, Kazimierz Gołojuch, Bogdan Rzońca, senator Andrzej Matusiewicz, and: Tadeusz Majchrowicz - President of the Board of the Krosno Region (NSZZ Solidarność Region Podkarpacie), Wojciech Buczak - President of the Board of the Region NSZZ "Solidarność" Region Rzeszowski and former numerous opposition activists (including Zbigniew Sieczkoś).
