The Wolomin celebrations, under the honorary patronage of Vice-Marshal of the Polish Parliament Marek Kuchcinski, were inaugurated on January 20 with a solemn Mass in St. Joseph the Worker Church.

Following the service, flowers were laid at the boulder dedicated to the Heroes of 1863 at the intersection of Pilsudski and Gdynia Streets.

The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Speaker of the Polish Parliament Marek Kuchciński, MP Jacek Sasin, the Mayor of Wolomin Ryszard Madziar and the Starost Piotr Uściński.

In their speeches, everyone stressed the importance of this great national uprising for the history of Poland. Representatives of educational institutions, institutions, veterans' associations and residents of Wolomin also paid tribute to the insurgents. The solemn setting of the ceremony was ensured by flag posts and representatives of the Wołomin branch of the Strzelec" Shooting Association.

The celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the January Uprising in Wolomin were crowned with a solemn evening in the District Heritage and Creativity Center, during which a promotion of the book "The January Uprising - participants, institutions, selected events - rituals and souvenirs in the Wolomin District" by the Society of the Friends of the City of Kobylka took place.

The event was complemented by a concert by the Romuald Traugutt Philharmonic Orchestra entitled "God Save Poland..." featuring outstanding singers Dorota Lachowicz, Dorota Późniecka, Ryszard Cieśla and Krzysztof Kur as well as pianist Ewa Pelwecka. Texts by Romuald Traugutt, including a dramatic letter to his wife written in the death cell of the 10th pavilion of the Warsaw Citadel and poetry by Cyprian Kamil Norwid were recited by actor Andrzej Ferenc.

In Wolomin there are two memorials dedicated to the January Uprising. The second one is located on Lukasiewicza street.
