Marshal Kuchciński on the motion for dismissal: The arguments put forward by the opposition were unfounded

- It was unnecessary," Marek Kuchciński, Speaker of the Sejm, said in Radio 24 of the Polish Radio about the Civic Platform's motion to dismiss the Speaker of the Sejm and the voting on it. The opposition's motion was rejected by 241 MPs, 174 supported it and 24 abstained.

In the justification of the motion to dismiss the Speaker of the Sejm, Civic Platform politicians stated that legislative work on the draft budget law for 2017 "was fraught with serious legal defects, as it was held in violation of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland and the Rules of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland."

- The arguments put forward by the opposition were unfounded. It has become a good thing that the result of the vote is such and not different," Marek Kuchciński commented. Opponents of the ruling party, regarding the session of December 16, 2016, also accused the Speaker of the Sejm of unjustifiably excluding MP Michał Szczerba from the session. This event became the direct cause of the occupation of the Plenary Hall.

- It is the Speaker's duty to make sure that the MEPs follow the rules, e.g. speak on the subject. The Law and Justice politician pointed out that the Sejm presidium has not yet made a decision on potential penalties for opposition MPs who protested in the lower chamber of parliament.

- I haven't finished analyzing the behavior of MPs on December 16 myself," Kuchciński admitted, estimating at the same time that opposition politicians have repeatedly disobeyed the Sejm's rules during the current term. - Members of opposition parties, however, do not accept this. It's as if they were driving a car against traffic and later had complaints that the police caught them," he pointed out.
