On the 100th anniversary of Poland's regaining independence, Hungarians commemorated Marshal Piłsudski

The Speaker of the Sejm Marek Kuchcinski and the Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament László Kövér unveiled a monument to Józef Piłsudski in Budapest.

The Speaker of the Sejm stressed that it was a good sign because Pilsudski's presence in this place evoked the memory of the year 1937 when he was commemorated with a commemorative plaque on the second anniversary of his death; at that time Europe was at peace and our states and nations were developing successfully. Marshal Pilsudski also noted that Jozef Pilsudski never forgot the great Hungarian gesture of solidarity, when during the Bolshevik invasion of Poland and Europe in the summer of 1920 the Hungarian ammunition delivered to the great battlefield near Warsaw allowed us to achieve victory.

This beautiful page of common Polish-Hungarian history was also pointed out by László Kövér, who recalled that in 1920 "doomed Hungary" sent 80 and then 200 wagons of its own ammunition to Poland because "it did not forget the historical legacy of Stefan Batory. "Hungary, 'condemned to death', sent 80 and later 200 wagons of its own ammunition to Poland because 'it did not forget the historical legacy of Stefan Batory. - In Europe, we Hungarians and Poles can count on each other... Let this monument proclaim the European community of destiny of Hungarians and Poles, the eternal loyalty and friendship between us," Kövér said.

The ceremony in District XII began with the St. Ephram Choir performing the anthems of Poland and Hungary. The guests were welcomed by the Mayor of the district, Zoltán Pokorni. The Ambassador of Poland to Hungary, Jerzy Snopek, the originator of the initiative, also participated in the event. - Jozef Pilsudski made the most difficult, sometimes controversial political decisions, but he was always guided by one goal: the good of the Republic of Poland. He was deeply convinced of the fundamental importance of tradition and respect for one's own history as a guarantee of national identity and dignity," recalled the Ambassador.

During the press conference in the Hungarian Parliament the Speaker of the Sejm said that the Polish-Hungarian cooperation had always developed very well. Our countries continue excellent traditions, also in widely understood historical symbolism, thinking about the future. He stressed that Poland and Hungary owe so much to each other that Pilsudski should be permanently placed in Budapest - as a figure, symbol and legend.
