Visit of Marshal Kuchcinski in Slovakia

On 30-31 May this year the Deputy Speaker of the Polish Sejm Marek Kuchciński visited Slovakia. In the town of Martin (central Slovakia) he participated in the beginning of the jubilee celebrations of the 150th anniversary of "Matice Slowacská", an organization (analogous to the Polish "Ossolineum") caring for Slovak culture, tradition, language and national identity.

During the ceremony Marek Kuchcinski was awarded by the authorities of this organization with "Cyril and Methodius Medal", cast on the occasion of the jubilee of "Slovakian Matrix".

In the town of Czadca (northern Slovakia), Speaker Kuchciński met, among others, Deputy Speaker of the Slovak Parliament P. Hruszowski and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Transport and Regional Development Pavel Figel. During the unofficial talks various forms of cooperation between the Law and Justice party and the Christian Democracy party, which is represented by these politicians in the Slovak parliament and coalition government, were discussed.

The cooperation is to concern, among other things, the protection of Christian values concerning the dignity and inalienable rights of the human person in relation to public life throughout Europe, especially in Poland and Slovakia. They also discussed the development of the Carpathian Mountains and the participation of Slovak politicians in supporting this idea on the forum of the European Union.

It is worth adding here, that on 24 May this year in the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava, a meeting of the representatives of countries - signatories of the Carpathian Convention (Convention on the Protection and Sustainable Development of the Carpathians), Marshall Marek Kuchciński sent an official letter, which was read out by the Polish Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection Janusz Zaleski.
