Dear Mr. Speaker,

I would like to thank you for invitation to the meeting commemorating the 9th anniversary of the plane crash in Smolensk. Not being able to take part in it, by this way I greet all the participants.

On Saturday, April 10, 2010 The Presidential Couple and their accompanying guests were to take part in the anniversary celebrations of the crime committed by the NKVD against Polish officers. Unfortunately the planned ceremonies did not take place. Instead, a funeral mass was held mourning mass, as the members of the Polish delegation, as a result of the tragic event joined the victims who, with their own blood, sanctified the Smolensk soil. It was a great blow to the entire Polish nation. Both the Katyn crime and the Smolensk catastrophe deprived us of the elites of the Republic. Despite the passage of time we still feel this great loss very acutely.  

These tragic events have become permanently etched in the hearts of Poles. For nine years ago, the deaths of the highest representatives of the state authorities State authorities who dedicated their lives to public service. Our It is now our duty to give them their due honor, and above all to remember. By keeping in our hearts the memory of their patriotic attitudes and steadfast values values, we show them the greatest respect.

A beautiful and moving expression of our memory is the monument in front of which participants gather today's meeting. Uniting with You, I bow my head as a sign of tribute to the victims of the plane crash.
